Ayotu Replacement EMR Tips for reMarkable 2

As you wear down the tips for your reMarkable 2 Marker, it’s worth considering non-OEM replacements for these consumable tips. The Ayotu is a quality replacement for the nibs, but at a lower price than the manufacturer version. While not a perfect replacement for the reMarkable 2 tips, the Ayotu EMR tips serves the purpose and is recommended for those on a budget, anyone who wears the tips out regularly, or as a backup.

Why should you trust my review of the Ayotu EMR replacement tips for reMarkable 2

I’ve been using the reMarkable 2 paper tablet for the past 2+ years and have tested a variety of EMR pens / styli on my device. These aren’t just a quick office test for SEO purposes – I use my reMarkable 2 every single day in my professional life.

What’s in the package?

The small, black cardboard box contains a foam block which houses the five replacement tips. The box also includes a tool for removing the spent reMarkable pencil tip and for inserting a new nib. The box and foam appear to be of high quality but the tool appears to be pretty roughly produced. That said, it is effective at it’s job.

How well do the Ayotu EMR nips work on a reMarkable 2?

Off the bat, the Ayotu EMR tips write extremely well on the reMarkable 2 paper tablet. I was worried that they might have an issue with either the Marker Plus or the tablet – but the whole system worked well out of the gate. The size of the tip is quite similar to the OEM tip (unlike the Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo, which is smaller). The Ayotu tip seems to wear at a very similar rate to that of the reMarkable version. My only nit against the Ayotu tips is that the shaft seems to rattle around a bit inside the Marker Plus. The rattle isn’t noticeable while writing but if you wiggle the Marker, you can hear it moving a bit.

How well does the Ayotu tip removal tool work?

When replacing the Ayotu EMR tip on the remarkable Marker, you can either use their tool or the card that came with your reMarkable. The metal Ayotu tip tool is ultimately effective, though it takes a bit of alignment to get the tip seated. Once you grab the nib, it’s very easy to remove from the Marker or Marker Plus.

Review summary

For the price, the Ayotu tips are a no brainer backup tip for your reMarkable Marker or Marker Plus – I’ll be keeping this pack in my backpack going forward. Additionally, I would recommend the Ayotu tips if you are on a budget ($1.20 ea vs the reMarkable OEM $2.11 ea) as they are fully compatible with the reMarkable Marker and Marker Plus.
