What is the Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo
The Noris Digital Jumbo is Staedtler’s EMR pencil that is fully compatible with the reMarkable Paper Tablet. The pencil is a triangular wooden pencil that feels really great to write with. The writing end of the pencil has replaceable tips (called nibs by Staedtler) and the other end is equipped with an EMR eraser. The eraser works super well with the reMarkable tablet. It’s worth noting that all Staedtler EMR products utilize the WACOM protocols.

When do I need to change the tip on my Staedtler EMR pencil?
The simple answer on when to change the EMR tip on a reMarkable stylus is when it wears out. The hard part is determining when it’s actually wearing out, which very much depends on usage and pressure used. Personally, I change my stylus nib / tip at the beginning over every month but you can also look closely at the tip to see if it’s worn.
How do I change the tip on my Noris Digital Pencil?
To change the tip on the Staedtler Noris Digital Pencil, you need to secure three key items – the actual stylus, a Staedtler replacement tip, and the replacement tool.
Step 1 – Secure your equipment
Use the replacement tool to grab the old / worn tip from the pencil. The tweezer tool takes a little bit of finesse to latch onto the tip. Don’t worry about hurting the worn tip, as you’ll be throwing it out soon.
Step 2 – Remove old nib from Noris Digital Jumbo
Remove the worn tip and dispose of it in the trash (don’t worry, it’s not dangerous or anything)
Step 3 – Install a new tip in your EMR stylus
Add a new tip (18022) with either your fingers or the removal tool by inserting it into the shaft. Note – you need to use an actual Staedtler tip, the OEM Remarkable tips are slightly larger and do not fully seat into the body.
Step 4 – Seat the nib (tip)
Ensure that the tip is fully seated into the pencil
Step 5 – Get back to work!
