How do electronic devices like reMarkable 2 get dirty?

Electronic devices become dirty over time because whatever grime or oils are on our hands tend to rub off onto the device. Devices also can get dirty if we eat or drink around them from splashes, spills, or through cross contamination from our hands. Given the work load on most executives and management consultants, eating while using your technology can become a common habit. Oils from your hands are especially hard on devices as they can cause dust or other grime to stick to the device when it’s just sitting out.

If you’re a business traveler and use your technology while in transit, you’re especially vulnerable to getting dirt and grime on your laptop or reMarkable paper tablet. Think of the cramped space on an airline tray that you’ve crammed your laptop, a stroopwaffle, and cup of coffee, while you’re trying to turn around comments on the latest steerco deck. Any tool that we plan to rely on should get regular maintenance. This is as true when I was in the Army (and keeping my weapon and boots clean) as it is in the business world, with an obvious different in the equipment we use each day. As you write on the reMarkable 2 paper tablet, the oils and dirt from your hand rubs against the screen. Additionally, the same splashes and crumbs described above can get onto your device. Wiping this grime off not only keeps your reMarkable 2 looking pristine, it will provide a more consistent writing experience.

How well do Alibeiss wipes work on the reMarkable 2?

I find that the moistened Alibeiss wipes go a great job at cleaning the reMarkable 2 screen and surrounding exterior of watermarks and grime. You may need to apply a bit of elbow grease, but don’t press too hard. The electronic wipes contain antibacterial, degreasing, and antistatic agents, formulated for cleaning electronics or optics.

I’ve used these wipes on my reMarkable 2 for more than two years and I’ve not experienced any material degradation or discoloring on the device from cleaning it.

The wipes are packaged in individual 2.5×2 inch packets, so they’re convenient to keep a few in your travel backpack or briefcase. The box contains 100 packets and a polishing cloth (primarily for glasses or optics)
