What is reMarkable screen sharing?
Screen sharing refers to the digital act of displaying your screen on a secondary monitor or through an application to others. On the remarkable 2 paper tablet, screen sharing is accomplished from the tablet through wifi into the desktop app.
When can reMarkable screen sharing be useful?
I view the reMarkable screen share capability as a relatively revolutionary tool that can allow you to collaborate with others in real time. For consultants or other business travelers on the move, the reMarkable tablet + screen sharing can bridge this collaboration gap by allowing others to see what a single person is writing or drawing. I find this useful for:
- Conducting conceptual problem solving (which is traditionally done on a whiteboard or butcher block)
- Supporting live training sessions or recordings
- Marking up a document live for future editing (such as a Powerpoint or Keynote presentation)
How to screen share from reMarkable tablet?
Establishing a screen share from the reMarkable tablet isn’t the most intuitive process as it requires synchronization of the tablet and the desktop app (on either Mac or PC). Follow the below steps for a successful screen share.
Step 1 – establish reMarkable wifi connection
To begin sharing content from your reMarkable tablet, you’ll need to connect to the internet. This can be done through either the airplane mode setting or by navigating to the wifi menu (in settings). For detailed instructions on how to connect using your phone as a hotspot, see our article on wifi connectivity on the reMarkable.
Step 2 – open reMarkable desktop app
Next step is to open your reMarkable app on a computer that’s also connected to WIFI (though it doesn’t need to be the same network that the reMarkable is connected to.

Step 3 – enable screen share on the reMarkable tablet
To turn on screen sharing, open your side menu, navigate to the “share button” (2nd from the bottom), and click “Present with Screen Share.” Note, you need to be in the note or document that you’d like to share from.
You’ll get an error if your reMarkable is not connected to WIFI.
Step 4 – accept screen share from desktop reMarkable app
Once you’ve initiated the screen share from your reMarkable, you need to accept “Present with Screen Share.”
At this point, you should be seeing live content from the reMarkable on the app.

Step 5 – share content on your reMarkable
Start writing! Everything you do (writing, erasing, menus) will be seen on the app from this point forward.

Step 6 – Unshare your reMarkable
Once you’ve completed your screen share, you’ll want to disconnect the reMarkable from sharing mode. To do this, navigate back to the side menu, click on the sharing icon, and then “Stop sharing your screen.” You can also disconnect wifi or just shut the reMarkable down to cut the connection.
Tips for better reMarkable screen shares
Once you’ve mastered how to setup a screen share on your reMarkable tablet, you can start leveraging the below tips to make the most of your presentation or collaboration
- Use different colors / pen types – just like using different color Expo dry erase markers on a whiteboard, leverage the different color pens and highlighters on the reMarkable can make your drawings or problem solving pop off the page (so to speak)
- Write on top of existing content – you can leverage PDFs (or shared PPTs) to write on top of pre-developed content.
- Start with a full battery (or plug in for longer shares) – wifi connectivity is hard on the battery of the reMarkable. So ensure that your reMarkable starts fully charged or alternatively plug into the USB-C port to keep the device topped off.
- Leverage collaboration applications – Once you have your screen share up in the reMarkable app, you can then share that feed via MS Teams or Zoom to include remote colleagues in your collaboration
- Record the screen share – you can use the screen recording feature on Macs or other applications to record the screen share for future use
- Convert the hand written notes to text – if your notes are relatively organized, you can convert the notes to text for easier sharing with your team. Or you can send the documents / notes in hand written form.
