This is a guide for how to customize your reMarkable 2 Notebook Cover pages that are displayed in the home (folder) view on your device or in the app. This is an easy thing to do, but will make your device feel much more ‘you.’
What is a reMarkable Notebook cover page?
Cover pages are the page in a reMarkable 2 notebook that are displayed when navigating in the folder view. These are the little icons that you’ll see representing each notebook. There are two types of cover pages on the reMarkable:
- First page view – in this setting, your Remarkable notebooks will show a cover of the first page of the notebook.
- Last page accessed – in the last page accessed setting, your reMarkable notebooks will change cover icons with the last page you’ve accessed in that notebook
How can customizing reMarkable cover pages be useful?
There are situations where either option can be more useful than the other.
- First page view – I like to use this option when I’m setting up my daily organization notebook for the month. I put goals (target, actual, variance) for the month and any metrics that my organization is trying to achieve on this front page, along with the month name drawn in large letters. I’ve also played around with drawing a graphic for a project notebook, in order to make it easily recognizable in the reMarkable folder view.
- Last page accessed – This is my default setting for reMarkable notebooks and for good reason. I like that it shows me sketches or notes from the last time I accessed that notebook.

There currently isn’t a way to grab graphics from one file on the reMarkable 2 and then copy it somewhere else (copy & pasting). The only work around currently available would be to create a one page PDF with your desired graphics on the front page and then add notebook pages to it as you go.
As soon as you connect your reMarkable 2 to WiFi, your notebooks and all of their settings (including cover type) will sync to reMarkable Connect.
The menu for changing your reMarkable notebook cover is accessed through the side menu and then the ‘Page’ icon
Yes! Follow the same steps as a reMarkable notebook to customize the cover of a PDF on your reMarkable 2. Hint – the menu is called “PDF Settings” instead of “Notebook Settings.” For converted Powerpoint or Keynote presentations on my reMarkable, I like to keep the title page as the cover to make them easy to recognize.
